10 years? It seems like an eternity. Just kidding. Congratulations! You have come a long way from your humble beginning.

Hey guys, it takes only 4 to set a state record. We have (more than (?)) 4 wingsuit pilots at the DZ that I believe have the experience and ability to pull off a tight enough formation. Of course, you other wingsuiters (is that even a word?) have heard me mumbling about how we should do this for a while now. That said, I have never organized a record attempt - but I think this would be a good occasion to try to set the record for our state. Let's get the word out and see how many other wingsuit pilots we can draw in; we may be able to set a pretty respectable record with the friends we all have at DZ's nearby. Incidentally, I also have a contact at CBS 42, so we'll likely get news coverage - he's been waiting for an excuse to come out since I met him.

Jon, ...help! I don't know what paper-work, judges, etc. need to be handled. Perhaps you know an experienced organizer to lead this? If not, I guess this will be where I become experienced...

I've been thinking, Skydive Alabama ten year anniversary - Rocket 95.1 ten year anniversary. Coincidence?

Doug,
If you look on USPA.org, it gives you blow by blow what you need for setting a state record as well as the requirements you have to meet to do so.
It says that the record must be certified by at least one regional (or higher-rated) judge rated in the discipline concerned, and that a wingsuit record judge could be from any discipline – plus a S&TA (Jon or Harold). I will be happy to email Victor Johnson who is our regional direction as well as a competition judge (regional) for canopy formation and canopy flight disciplines and see if he is available to come out that weekend.

As far as participants, I off top of my head can think of 4 wingsuit flyers that frequent SA…. Yourself, Dustin N., Keith Barwick, Pete.
I can email those guys and ask if they are intested in participating and commit to coming out and hook them up with you too if you wish.

Alright - here are the details:

$149 jump all u can for Saturday and Sunday (April 10 & 11). One Rig - must be packed to manifest.... OR $20 per jump whichever is cheaper.

(*this rate does not apply for AFFjumps or tandems jumps.)

DZ will be providing hotdogs and hamburgers saturday evening - we ask that you just bring something to go along with that. (chips, dips, plates, forks, etc)

Doug - I'm not sure if I've met you or not, but I do know some wingsuiting people with experience that I can put you in touch with. I know the guy who put together the Georgia wingsuit record at Skydive Atlanta (I think they did a 4 way). Another friend of mine who also jumps at Skydive Atlanta was organizing the wingsuiters at the Fitzgerald boogie and was on the world record. I can get in touch with both of them and see if they'd be interested/available to come out and help with the Alabama record if you want. Just let me know!!!

I'm totally looking forward to coming to the anniversary! Can't wait!
